This week a home made double sideband transmitter by VK3TPM, joined the weekly net.
Reports were that the station was strong, very clear but also very wide. The audio bandwidth extends up to about 10KHz (an audio low pass filter is under consideration).
The simple transmitter is based on circuits published by VK3YE and VK3XU. The mic amp and mixer was from VK3YE. The three stage power chain is based on one described in Drew Diamond’s first book.
Other components include a termination insensitive amplifier and a simple RF buffer.
The VFO is an Arduino Nano controlling an Si5351 with code by VK3TPM. We hope to hear more home brew gear on the net in the future.

On Sunday, Richard VK3LRJ and Peter VK3TPM dropped in to the BAREC Castlemain coffee morning and took along the transmitter.
We were very pleased to see that construction was under way with Tony Falla VK3KPP helping a young member who was building a LoRa based text chat radio.
A video from the last Bendigo radiofest was shown on the big screen and the quality and professionalism of the camera work was really impressive.
