Annual General Meeting report

The annual general meeting was well attended despite some wet weather. Joe, VK3MAB, gave the committee’s report and all positions were declared vacant.

It’s been a good year for the club with a series of interesting presentations, numerous coffee meetings, membership is growing and the finances are in a good position including some money in a term deposit earning interest.

During the meeting, Barry, VK3BRT, our treasurer called in from Las Vegas to assure us that the books are in good order.

There was some discussion about how we might improve the visibility of slides shown during presentations and it seems that there is a large screen that we’ve never tried using in the RSL room.

Craig, VK3CDN, gave an impromptu presentation about the new HF radio to be shown by Icom at the Tokyo ham fair starting August 24. The radio celebrates 60 years of the company and is code named X60.

He mentioned that the radio is “heavily” SDR technology and the company believes it will be very competitive with a focus on bright screen and improved user interface.

After the committee was re-elected chef Joe, VK3MAB, cooked up a storm.
