Monthly meeting well attended

The Saturday 18 June monthly club meeting was most entertaining.

Club member Graeme VK3CDO has had a problem with Indian Myna Birds. He explained how he traps them using clever wire cage traps.

Peter, VK3TPM, brought along the QRP-Labs QDX transceiver and demonstrated a little reception in the room (but no one heard the transmission).

A topic which came up on the net this week was measuring small inductors. Here’s a popular LCR meter that works well:

Peter, VK3RV, brought along a Ten-Tec CW transceiver in mint condition:

David, VK3KR, appears to have perfected 3D printing. Here’s a key he’s produced.

Club Net report

The net was opened by Barry (as VK3RMM) on the Macedon 2m repeater 147.250 at 20:00. It was a good roll call with stations:

  • VK3QD, Steve
  • VK3EJD, Eric
  • VK3TPM, Peter 1
  • VK3KR, David
  • VK3MAB, Joe
  • VK3CCR, Brian
  • VK3PRC, Peter 2
  • VK3RV, Peter 3

(We are still trying to figure out what to do about the excess Peter problem).

There was an interesting discussion for 30 minutes touching on 3D printing and measuring small inductances.

At 20:30 the net moved to 80m on 3.685.

Good signals from all participants:

  • VK3RA, operated by Eric
  • VK3MAB, Joe
  • VK3CCR, Brian
  • VK3TPM, Peter 1
  • VK3RV, Peter 2
  • VK3BRT, Barry

Another interesting discussion but a few complaints about the cold and wet conditions.
