Special Icom presentation – Meeting at Woodend Saturday 21st March 10am

Our next meeting at the Woodend RSL on Saturday 21st of March will feature Dan Hill from Icom who will show and discuss the IC-7760 and IC-7300 Mk2.

Dan is a Business Development Manager at Icom Australia. He has a fascinating background in commercial radio with experience on both sides of the microphone including both technical and music direction roles.

The IC-7300 is the top selling amateur radio probably of all time. This update will be of great interest to anyone who has the original or anyone who is considering an Icom radio for the first time.

The IC-7300MK2 HF/50/(70) MHz transceiver is an enhanced version of the highly popular IC-7300, which was Icom’s first amateur radio to employ RF direct sampling technology and sold over 100,000 units worldwide.

For those with a bit more to spend on their favourite hobby there is the IC-7760 which came out last year. Similar in operation to the 7300 it features a compact head unit that takes up less space on the bench.

The control head can be located away from the RF deck and feels like being right there.

The IC-7760 has independent MAIN/SUB receivers, from the antenna to the speaker, so that one receiver section has no effect on the other, providing simultaneous reception of two signals in different bands/modes with identical performance. As with the IC-7851, dual spectrum scopes provide simultaneous display of the MAIN and SUB bands allowing the operator to see the changing band conditions.

We’re very excited to have Dan Hill visiting us at Woodend and other hams from nearby clubs would be most welcome to join us.
