Sadly Graeme, VK3NE passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday 28 October.
Graeme was an avid radio amateur who embraced the technical side of the hobby, always with the aim of producing the best quality signal he could under all weather conditions and with the best equipment available to him.
His knowledge of the hobby was extensive and thorough – many amateurs acknowledged and valued his broad understanding of the subject.
Along with his technical knowledge, Graeme also embraced the social aspect of the hobby of amateur radio.
When MRARC was formed, he initiated the January Family Picnic on Mt Macedon as a way of enjoying the company of other members and their families in a relaxed, social setting. For a similar reason he proposed a Wednesday morning Coffee get-together so that members of MRARC who were unable to join the monthly Saturday meetings in Woodend RSL, had a chance to meet and chat about all things amateur.
Graeme was also a long-time supporter of the WANSARC Family Picnic Day in Bundoora Park, again to meet and socialise with extended families of other radio amateurs.
To support the radio clubs, Graeme undertook committee roles such as President of WANSARC and Secretary with both WANSARC and MRARC over many years.
Until recently he enjoyed the morning skeds, the Club skeds, the regular club meetings with guest speakers, hamfests and all other things pertaining to Amateur Radio.
Sadly for radio amateurs and the many people that Graeme has positively influenced in his life, VK3NE is now a Silent Key.
